1. The driest continent in the world is Antarctica. Although Antarctica has a lot of ice, it is technically a desert with less than 250 mm of rainfall annually. It is also the windiest and the coldest continent.
  2. The moth. The first butterflies on Earth appeared around 40 million years ago. The first moth is thought to have been around 100 to 190 millions years ago, during the time dinosaurs were around.

  4. C. Harrison Schmitt was the first geologist on the moon. His job was to collect rock samples so that scientists could study the moon from down here on Earth.
  5. CSIRO marine scientists and statisticians are trying to make sure that fishing vessels aren’t hauling in too much bycatch. They are also trying to change the way fish are caught to reduce catching the wrong creatures as much as possible. This will reduce the damage caused by fishing fleets to our oceans.
